Get prepared for your Equine Therapy sessions
Each session at Equine Therapy Center is designed with safety, pacing, and emotional wellbeing at the forefront. Our aim is to offer a calm, confidential, and supportive environment where you can explore your healing journey at your own pace.
Clients often experience:
- Increased regulation and nervous-system balance
- Greater emotional clarity and self-awareness
- Improved communication and boundaries
- Reduced stress, anxiety, and overwhelm
- A deepened sense of connection, grounding, and hope
In addition to your therapeutic experience, here are important details to ensure your sessions run smoothly and safely.
Confidentiality
We are committed to providing a safe, secure, and confidential space for your individual sessions. To support this, we kindly ask clients to adhere to their allotted session times, ensuring privacy and uninterrupted therapeutic work for you and for others attending sessions throughout the day.
Fees & payment
Payment can be made at the end of each session or in advance if you wish to book a block of sessions. If you have any questions about payment options or scheduling, we are always happy to discuss them.
Contact between sessions
Each individual client is provided with a named contact and assigned therapist.
If you wish to contact your therapist between sessions, this can be arranged in one of the following ways:
- Request communication planning directly during your session
- Contact one of the team members listed on your welcome information
Please note that responses may not be immediate, as therapists may be working with other clients or horses. We appreciate your understanding and will always respond as soon as possible.
Comfort & emotional safety
Your comfort is essential.
If at any point during your session you feel uncomfortable – emotionally, physically, or otherwise – please speak to your therapist or another member of our team. We are here to ensure your experience is safe, supportive, and empowering.
We also encourage clients to:
- Arrive in good time
- Allow some space after your session for rest or processing
- Make use of our quiet areas, where a peaceful moment of grounding can usually be provided
Cancellations
Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged in full, unless an exception is made at the discretion of the Director or your individual therapist.
We appreciate your understanding as our horses, staff, and preparation time are scheduled specifically for you.
Drug & alcohol policy
For your safety and wellbeing, as well as the safety of our horses and staff, we cannot engage with clients who arrive under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other substances.
We reserve the right to cancel the session if this occurs.
What to wear
Please dress appropriately for the weather and outdoor conditions. Horses work in all seasons—rain or shine—so consider:
- Weather-appropriate layers
- Waterproofs or sun protection
- Strong, sturdy boots or closed-toe shoes (essential)
- Warm clothing in cooler months
Your comfort and safety around horses are important, and proper footwear and clothing help support this.
Health & medical conditions
Please inform us of any health or medical conditions, whether or not you believe they may affect your session. This information is entirely confidential and is treated with the same care and respect as all other client details.
(Additional information can be provided on a continuation form if needed.
