This course will provide you with an understanding of working with horses at the neurological level, that internal space where the brains of two different species interact. You will be guided through observations about the complexities of cross-species communication and interaction.
Over the 3 days we look at the challenges when two opposing species – predator and prey – form team relationships and consider how human and equine perceives the world including perceptions of sight, sound, taste, touch, and body position awareness. We will look at how our somatic awareness has a distinct affect on our equine partners and look at how we can regulate or rather co-regulate.
We will look at how horses learn, imitate, solve problems, and remember. We will look at equine evolution, ethology and emotional response. As well as having some hands-on horsemanship time with our herd.
Above all the 3 days will look at the needs of the horse within the horse-human partnership, how they will look to communicate with us all the time, through the most subtle of ways, just not in the ways we communicate with each other.
This 3 day course also acts as a pre-course to our Foundation Course in Equine Facilitated Learning.
